Some departure points have steps and access is affected by the tides \u2013 click here to see their Access Statement \u2013 but RibRide\u2019s skippers can overcome most issues to adapt a trip to suit a traveller\u2019s requirements.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table width=\"100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><em>When Benjie, an autistic young adult, with his two carers wanted to experience some adventure, RibRide were only too happy to work with Benjie\u2019s mother and carers to plan his trip.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_1177\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1177\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1177\" title=\"Rib Ride pic\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.piws.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Rib-Ride-pic-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Benjie who is autistic with his two carers on the Rib\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1177\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rib Ride ensured that accessibility was not an issue for visitor with Autism and two support carers.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2>Supporting the Solution<\/h2>\n<table width=\"399\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"399\">Autism is a spectrum disorder which means autistic people can have varying support needs.\u00a0 By working closely with Benjie\u2019s mum, RibRide\u2019s skipper was able to gain an understanding of Benjie\u2019s requirements, which included the necessity to be able to dock at any time if Benjie suddenly needed to get ashore. This knowledge enabled the skipper to meticulously plan Benjie\u2019s trip, so his needs were fully catered for at all times while also achieving Benjie\u2019s wish of having an unforgettable watersport adventure.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2>The Benefits<\/h2>\n<table width=\"399\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"399\">There are many health, mental and emotional benefits of being on the water, and by ensuring their trips are fully accessible, RibRide is bringing these benefits to people with accessibility issues while giving them the freedom to experience a fun and exhilarating activity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>How is PIWS supporting RibRide?<\/strong><\/p>\n<table width=\"709\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"709\">RibRide is working with PIWS to make people with accessibility issues fully aware that they can enjoy a watersport adventure on Anglesey.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>What resources were introduced?<\/p>\n<table width=\"709\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"709\"><strong>Purple Bubble <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anyone with accessibility issues wanting a trip on a RIB can with RibRide\u2019s Purple Bubble.\u00a0 There are two exciting\u00a0trip options with passenger numbers from 2 to 10.<\/p>\n<p>For more details please visit: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ribride.com\/purplebubble\">www.ribride.com\/purplebubble<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hiddendisabilitiesstore.com\/\">Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_608\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-608\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-608\" title=\"Sunflower Awareness\" src=\"https:\/\/staging.piws.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Sunflower-Awareness-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Sunflower Awareness\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-608\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunflower Awareness<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Sunflower is a recognised sign that the wearer has a hidden disability.\u00a0 It\u2019s discreet but easy for others to identify, acknowledge and understand that the wearer faces challenges, whether that be the need for additional support, help or a little more time.<\/p>\n<p>Through PIWS RibRide has registered to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme.\u00a0 Their membership has\u00a0seen RibRide be added to the scheme\u2019s location map on its website and they have committed to train their staff to\u00a0identify the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower which ensures they have a deeper understanding of hidden disabilities and\u00a0\u00a0learn how to approach and support customers who are wearing a Hidden Sunflower.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By working together, PIWS and RibRide are making a difference.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ribride.co.uk\/en\/frequently-asked-questions\"><strong>Current Access Statement<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"709\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"709\">RibRide\u2019s skippers are extremely helpful and they aim to cater to all needs. However, they do ask that anybody needing extra\/special assistance talks to them first on 0333 1234 303. Some departure points have steps and access is affected by the tides. You may need to provide your own aids and helpers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 RibRide-ing requires no skill, just the ability to:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Walk 260 meters from our Bookings Office to the pontoon at St George\u2019s Pier<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Climb down 3 steps on a short step ladder<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then cross a small gap onto the RIB<\/p>\n<p>At St George\u2019s Pier in Menai Bridge there is a sloping walkway leading to the pontoon where you access the RIBs. This walkway is like a bridge and has great views of the Strait. Passengers affected by a phobia of heights may want to chat to them about this before they book an adventure.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Are there toilets on the RIB?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>No, there are no toilets on the RIBs. Please use RibRide\u2019s customer toilets at its Bookings Office at the Porth Daniel boatyard, Menai Bridge before your trip commences. They are unable to pull in or make shore stops.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Where do we park?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Unfortunately, RibRide does not have its own parking area, nor can they guarantee street parking.
