Nestled on the shores of Llyn Tegid near Bala, Glan-llyn has been delivering exceptional outdoor education experiences for young people since 1950. Over the years, the centre has evolved into one of Wales’s premier outdoor education destinations, offering both thrilling activities and comfortable accommodations.
Unforgettable Activities for All Ages
During your stay, families will rotate between a variety of fun, confidence-building activities, including:
- Canoeing
- Rowing
- Raft building
- High ropes
- Archery
- Climbing walls
- Swimming
- Orienteering
- Bushcraft
- Falconry
All necessary safety gear, such as waterproofs and buoyancy equipment, is provided. While these activities are designed to encourage participants to challenge themselves, participation is always optional—it’s up to each individual to decide how far they’d like to push their boundaries.
Safety is our top priority. Glan-llyn’s staff are fully trained and qualified, DBS-checked, and experienced in managing risk. Additionally, our team includes leaders with disability inclusion training and some with Level 1 Makaton certification.
Accessible and Comfortable Accommodations
Glan-llyn ensures everyone feels welcome and included. There are two fully wheelchair-accessible family rooms with wet rooms, and many activities are adapted to accommodate wheelchair users.
Family rooms feature en-suite bathrooms with showers, and each block has a lounge for relaxing evenings with a TV, as well as a shared kitchen equipped with a kettle, fridge, microwave, and sink.
Delicious Meals for All
The centre provides four daily meals buffet style—breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner. Special dietary requirements, including gluten-free, dairy-free, and Halal, are fully catered for.
