Caffi Isa
The entrance to the Cafe is mostly accessible. The main entrance features 2 double automatic doors which open very widely and in good time, meaning that it will open even if I’m in the foyer. The entrance to get into the Cafe isn’t as accessible as you have to ask someone inside the Cafe to open it for you or have someone with you due to fire regulations. I have been told that this is changing soon, with something that keeps the door open but still adhering to fire regulations. The parking is fully accessible and is right near the entrance easy for people in wheelchairs and for people who can’t walk too far. The entrances are all flat and equipped with ramps if needed. The doorways are wide enough for wheelchair users.
The internal accessibility in the Cafe is really good. The layout is really spacious and is easy to navigate for wheelchairs or other mobility aids. It also helps that the staff are so lovely that if there are any obstructions for you, they will see or you can ask them easily. It has normally unobstructed pathways.
The accessible toilet is really accessible. It is a really spacious room equipped with an emergency cord near the toilet, grab rails, the sink, toilet and hand dryer is lowered to promote accessibility. There is a free standing baby changing area in the restroom but as the room is so spacious, it isn’t really a problem.
The lighting is low level however if there is any problem with this, they can adjust it for you. The signs are really clear, important signs are in a large font and are easy to read.
There are staff assistance available for those with additional needs and staff are trained in disability awareness. What I love is that there are staff working there with disabilities themselves which is lovely to see.
There is seating available and is accessible for all. Most are on normal chairs sitting at a table which can be moved out of the way if required and there is 2-3 sofas in the Cafe as well for extra comfort. Tables and counters are not at a suitable height for wheelchair users however, staff can help with this.
There are no special features I am aware of for sensory impairments like hearing loops, Braille menus, or other. The venue has a built in library as such where you can take out books and you can exchange them. It is such a lovely, calming Cafe, it really is.
The Cafe excels in accessibility inside the room, it is so accessible inside for the room around the tables and where it is located. The entrance door could do with improvement but they assured me that it would be fixed soon to make it more accessible.
